Marcin Popławski

Central Asia analyst. He specializes in the domestic and foreign policy of Central Asian countries.

He deals with the economic transformations of the region’s countries, with an emphasis on raw materials, energy, transport, and trade. He is interested in changes in socio-cultural identities, civil society, and historical politics and historical memory in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. He follows popular cultures and decolonization movements in the post-Soviet area.

A graduate of the University of Warsaw (Interdepartmental East Slavic Studies). He also studied at the University of Warsaw’s Euro-Asian Studies and Eastern European Studies programs. Participant in research projects on, among other things, nationalism in popular culture and international election observer. He worked as a coordinator of international development cooperation projects at the International Solidarity Foundation (2019-2022) and as an analyst for Central Asia at the Marek Karp Center for Eastern Studies (2022-2025).
