Marcin Popławski
Central Asia analyst. He specializes in the domestic and foreign policy of Central Asian countries.
He deals with the economic transformations of the region’s countries, with an emphasis on raw materials, energy, transport, and trade. He is interested in changes in socio-cultural identities, civil society, and historical politics and historical memory in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. He follows popular cultures and decolonization movements in the post-Soviet area.
A graduate of the University of Warsaw (Inter-Faculty East Slavonic Studies). He also pursued studies in Eurasian Studies at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies of the University of Warsaw, as well as at the Centre for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw. He took part in research projects focused, among other topics, on nationalism in popular culture and served as an international election observer. He worked as a coordinator of international development cooperation projects at Solidarity Fund PL (2019–2022) and later as a Central Asia analyst at the OSW Centre for Eastern Studies (2022–2025).
