Officer, lecturer and expert in maritime and energy security.

Captain (OF-5, POL N), Rafał Miętkiewicz, Associate Professor. (security sciences), a Navy officer with 26 years in service experience, Associate Professor in the group of scientific and research workers, the Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte (AMW) in Gdynia. Former CO of the MCM vessel. Graduate of Gdynia Maritime University (Postgraduate Studies of Security and Crisis Management).

Lecturer at Collegium Civitas (Warsaw) MBA program specializing in maritime aspects of national energy security and postgraduate studies in offshore wind energy at the University of Gdansk and Gdansk University of Technology. Expert at the Ignacy Łukasiewicz Institute of Energy Policy in Rzeszów (IPE) and the Polish Society for National Security.

An author of several independent monographs (last one: “Autonomous systems in maritime activities” 2023), academic textbooks, several chapters in monographs and several dozen scientific articles, including those published in renowned publishing houses, as well as analyses and industry commentaries.

The main areas of scientific interest are the issues of development of modern technologies, especially maritime autonomous systems, and the use of naval forces in shaping the multidimensional maritime security of states, as well as maritime aspects of the country’s energy security (supplies of strategic raw materials, offshore wind energy).

Active participant of the Erasmus + program. Participant of European and national research programs (DAIMON, EU Interreg South Baltic, SABUVIS, SWAT-SHOAL).
